We have an exciting opportunity for an Art Therapist to be part of the therapeutic team.

The role will provide effective therapeutic support to the established residential rehabilitation programme in a way that enables clients to overcome their addiction to gambling and move forward to recovery and independent living.

The programme provides structured support, to males aged over 18 years with severe gambling history, through a 14-week residential stay.

The contract is for five hours in total in a residential treatment centre for men in recovery from gambling addiction.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead the art therapy group – 1.5 hours a week.
  • Plus 30 minutes set up and clear up.
  • Provide recovery-focused art therapeutic interventions and psychoeducation to support residents within an art therapy process.
  • Offer therapeutic support to assist residents in addressing their gambling problems and achieving their goals in line with the residential programme.
  • Establishes art therapy treatment goals within the programme.
  • Evaluate each patient’s progress and the effectiveness of art therapy interventions through feedback forms at the end of treatment.
  • Write reports on each resident and reflect on the group at the end of each session.
  • Attend clinical meeting – two hours a week.
  • Attend peer supervision – 1.5 hours a month.

Criteria:

Qualification:

Desirable:

  • Fully qualified Art Psychotherapist , HCPC registered (BAAT member preferred).
  • Proficient in modalities pertaining to specific art therapy disciplines.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Preferred experience of working in addiction recovery.
  • Preferred experience of working with complex trauma.
  • Experience with an understanding and application of risk, incident, and safeguarding processes.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating structured group work with vulnerable and challenging groups.

Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:

Essential:

  • The ability to work professionally with women and, with an understanding of different issues women are presented with.
