Gordon Moody is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting individuals severely affected by gambling harm. Established in South London in 1971, we now operate specialist residential treatment centres across the UK, providing safe and supportive environments for recovery. In addition to our residential programmes for men and women, we offer relapse prevention, aftercare, and the unique Retreat & Counselling programme, which combines short-stay residential treatment with ongoing at-home support. Our holistic approach ensures seamless care, including support for friends and family affected by gambling harm.

Job Summary:

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a key role in expanding and developing Gordon Moody’s community engagement programme. You will work closely with staff, service users, and volunteers to create meaningful opportunities that support long-term recovery. This includes developing community activities, strengthening support networks, and promoting service user involvement in shaping the future of our programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Development

  • Lead the creation of a Recovery Forum to amplify the voices of those in recovery, ensuring service users have a say in designing services that impact them.
  • Develop and coordinate recovery-focused groups, mutual aid networks, and structured programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with professionals, voluntary organisations, and peer support networks to expand available support.
  • Oversee the growth of professional, voluntary, and peer-led networks to enhance community involvement.
  • Promote Gordon Moody locally and nationally by representing the organisation at events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand our services and develop innovative community projects.
  • Deliver and support community wellbeing activities that encourage ongoing recovery and resilience.
  • Support volunteers and community members in developing their wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ensure marketing and promotional materials are effectively distributed, considering accessibility, inclusion, and diversity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the operational management team to strengthen community engagement links.
  • Participate in management team meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Champion service user involvement, ensuring collaboration remains at the heart of our programmes.

Performance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Gordon Moody procedures and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Align initiatives with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, adapting policies to meet statutory objectives.

Person Specification:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in leading community engagement initiatives and developing care pathways.
  • Ability to drive cultural change and implement impactful projects.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Confidence in representing an organisation at events and within professional networks.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly CQC standards.
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
