Gordon Moody is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to providing support and treatment for those severely affected by gambling harms. The organisation was set up in South London in 1971, and we now have centres across the UK offering residential treatment for men and women to help them reclaim and rebuild their lives through recovery in a safe and supported environment.
Along with our unique specialist treatment centres for men and women, we offer relapse prevention and aftercare programmes. We also deliver a unique Retreat & Counselling programme that combines short-stay residential treatment with ongoing at-home support.
These programmes provide seamless care and support for those in treatment along with friends and family support to help those who are affected by a loved one’s gambling harms.
Job Purpose:
Our Redditch site is a brand-new 27-bed facility opening in November. It will allow us to host all genders, allowing us to evolve and develop our programmes and treatment services.
We are looking to recruit a Night Support Worker who will be required to support service users throughout the night to ensure their safety, and wellbeing and sustain a person’s recovery, followed by a morning handover to ensure all information is communicated effectively.
Areas of Responsibility:
- To ensure all service users are on-site and remain on-site throughout the evening.
- Check CCTV regularly.
- Regularly check the grounds of the residential site to ensure it is secure.
- Report any security concerns you have to management.
- To complete any tasks set and provide a full handover.
- If needed, contact the on-call team/management with any concerns or incidents you may have.
- To liaise with a range of external partners if required.
- To assist and provide advocacy for residents with communication issues where appropriate.
- To address problems arising within the house individually or within house meetings and provide emotional support when needed.
- To support service users to meet their wider health and social care needs, both whilst in treatment and on exit to the community, in line with their support plans.
- To undertake evening Health & Safety checks of communal areas and staff areas. To report back and arrange repairs to the Service Manager.
- To support the development of the programme through evaluation, continuous improvement, and development projects as necessary.
- To partake in learning and development opportunities, for personal development and to maintain up-to-date knowledge within the field.
- To carry out required administration functions, including risk assessments, incident reporting, correspondence, monitoring, data capture and updating the electronic case management database, ensuring quality record always keeping.
- To partake in available support structures, including managerial supervision, team meetings, clinical meetings, and handovers.
General Duties
- To be an active advocate for service users’ rights.
- To contribute to and support the service to meet contractual KPI’s, including occupancy, retention, and discharge, as commissioned.
- To be a positive ambassador for Gordon Moody that reflects its values and high standards of professionalism at all times.
- To partake in learning and development opportunities, for personal development and to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
- To be a flexible, positive member of the team to maintain high standards of service provision.

- Undertake such other duties as reasonably requested by the Service Manager.
Essential Specification:
- Direct work with vulnerable people and/or relevant groups.
- Communication skills in both written and verbal reporting.
- Understanding of risk, incident, and safeguarding processes.
- Ability to establish working relationships with partner agencies.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet needs.
- Experience working in a health and social care environment (e.g., residential, mental health or drug support services).
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a wider organisation.
- Ability to work in a rota pattern including weekends when required.
- Computer literate with experience using database systems, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
Desirable Specification:
- Level 3 NVQ Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Experience working in a structured Health and Social Care environment.
- Training in therapeutic approaches.
- Experience in using care-focused software to record care plans.
