Former Welsh international footballer and mental health advocate John Hartson has officially joined Gordon Moody as a Charity Ambassador, supporting the organisation’s mission to help individuals and families affected by gambling-related harm.
As part of his new role, Hartson will co-deliver a series of gambling related harm awareness workshops across the UK, with sessions in Scotland, Wales and England. These workshops aim to educate communities, share lived experiences and raise awareness of the services available through Gordon Moody.
To mark the start of his ambassadorial journey, Hartson will spend the night at Gordon Moody House, Gordon Moody’s flagship treatment centre in Redditch, where he will immerse himself in the day-to-day experiences of those in treatment. John’s night at Gordon Moody house will be captured on camera and will be aired as part of Gordon Moody’s Behind The Bet documentary series in the coming weeks.
John Hartson said:
“I know how damaging addiction can be. I’m honoured to join Gordon Moody in helping people realise they’re not alone and that recovery is possible. These workshops and events will open conversations that are long overdue.”
Monica Shafaq, CEO of Gordon Moody, added:
“We’re proud to welcome John as our Ambassador. His openness, influence and lived experience will be vital in helping us break down barriers, raise awareness and connect with those most in need of support.”
