Christmas eve – the boy’s all grown

And Santa’s steps are heard no more

Matured  in the shadow of addiction

        Will he  inherit this affliction?

How many times was Santa stretched

To make this Christmas one  of the best?

While losses and finances swirled round the brain

And Mummy  hid  the shame and pain.

Was it enough I must reflect?

What kind of life can I expect ?

For the boy who was forced into second place

Behind addiction and the gambling chase.

Mighty God who can restore all things

Don’t let him pay for his mother’s sins

Keep him happy, healthy and strong

Forgive  his mum for so much wrong.
