By Clarke Carlisle – Business Development Manager, Gordon Moody
When I speak about mental health, I’m speaking from lived experience. I’ve seen the darkness of depression, battled with suicidal thoughts, and felt the crushing weight of addiction. I also know how vital it is to be met with compassion, understanding, and real support—not judgement.
That’s why I’ve joined Gordon Moody.
Because this organisation doesn’t just talk about mental health and addiction—it gets into the trenches and helps people reclaim their lives, every single day.
This Week, We Talk About Community
Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 carries a theme that’s close to my heart: Community.
When I was at my lowest, it was community that helped me back up. Not just friends and family, but those who got it—who had lived through similar battles and could walk beside me without flinching. At Gordon Moody, we’re building that same kind of community for people affected by gambling addiction and mental health challenges.
We believe in wrapping people with the kind of care that says: You matter. You’re not alone. And you can recover.
Why This Role Matters to Me
As Business Development Manager, I’m here to build bridges—to workplaces, organisations, and communities who want to understand more, do more, and support better. Because whether you’re dealing with addiction yourself, supporting a loved one, or leading a team at work—mental health is everybody’s business.
One of the most powerful tools we offer is training—not just for mental health in general, but specifically in how to recognise and respond to gambling-related harm.
Get Involved: MHFA & Gambling Support First Aid (GSFA) Training
This Mental Health Awareness Week, I’m inviting you to be part of the solution.
Whether you’re in HR, team leadership, education, sport, or public service—there is so much good you can do when you’re equipped with the right tools.
Our training programmes include:
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): Learn how to spot the signs of mental health issues, start the conversation, and offer meaningful support in your workplace or community.
Gambling Support First Aid (GSFA): A unique training course from Gordon Moody, designed to help individuals and teams understand, identify, and respond to gambling-related harm—especially when it’s hidden behind silence and shame.
These sessions aren’t just informative—they’re transformative. And they could be the start of someone’s journey back to health.
Let’s Talk
If you’re reading this and thinking, this is something my team needs, or this could help someone I know—don’t wait. Let’s talk. Let’s build communities that catch people before they fall, and support them when they do.
You can reach out to me directly to discuss training opportunities or partnership ideas. I’d love to hear from you.
Because mental health isn’t a side conversation—it’s the foundation of a thriving, compassionate society. And at Gordon Moody, we’re building that foundation every day.
Let’s do it together.
