That sense of dread, of impending doom,
        The darkness inside, overbearing gloom.

If I can escape discovery, until danger has passed,
I will breathe easily I will become relaxed

This frequent fear has become part of life
I create the danger, I create the disquiet,

I create the life that has no peace
I create the worry without cease

The racing heart wonders should it just stop
Easier to quit life than the draw of the slot?

But then I see that little trusting face
And know I must stay in this race

Those big blue eyes can’t see the lies
That loving smile makes life worthwhile…

I surrender to my higher power
He will be my strengthened tower.

My higher power is Jesus Christ
I surrender to him here tonight
I ask him to carry me when I can’t stand
When I’m lost to take my hand
And guide me along the right way
        Resisting all temptation to stray.
Please Jesus help me follow your way.
        Amen

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. – Chronicles 15:7

I wrote this when I thought things were bad. I had no idea how bad things could get, but you know what …in all of it God has provided me with lifelines. He has kept me afloat. He has given me people to help me . He has never once left my side even when I chose to ignore Him. Thank you God for all the blessings you have bestowed upon such an unworthy recipient.

Thank you Paul!! I see you are A New Yorker. Somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. Maybe when I kick this habit for good,….
