It wasn’t my fault, it wasn’t me

It was just bad luck, a stupid jockey

        It wasn’t my fault I didn’t win

Just bad luck, an unlucky spin

It wasn’t my fault, I wasn’t to blame

Then I’d go and do the same

It wasn’t my fault, can’t you see?

        I wouldn’t take responsibility.

It’s not my fault, I didn’t cause the pain

But then I’d go and do it again

It wasn’t my fault, that’s what I’d think

When my actions took me to the brink

It wasn’t my fault?  I have an addiction

That’s what causes all the friction

Now I know that’s not true

We all can choose what we do

But no, I have an addiction, that’s a fact.

But it’s my responsibility how I act

I can shout and moan, make some noise

Or take some actions – recovery is a choice.

How true those words ring in my mind.
