Keep saying no then Sherrie, one day at a time. Hope to see a My Journal update from you or a “Hi” in the groups.
This came up ina group discussion somehow so here it is bumped up.
Good poem. I hope you start a thread in the My Journal Forum as well and tell us a little about your story. You will get a lot of support there and also see other stories and see the things that are helping others.
We can all change. Generally I’d say we need to quit first – can’t make many changes while still in action.
Abstinence = quitting
Recovery = quitting and then start working on making those changes.Hi Sherrie, good to see your name pop up.
Maybe give us an update in the My Journal Forum? Check out the group schedule and hopefully see you soon.
It was a good poem then Vera, it is a good poem now. I hope you feel that the “pale flickering flame” has now grown brighter though 🙂 That is not by chance, it’s due to your efforts in the past year.
Great poem cw. I hope to hear a little about your story. Check out the My Journal Forum, you will see that you are not alone and I hope to read about your progress there.
Is it a myth, is it a lie?
Maybe recovery is where luck lies.
Yes, when gambling we all had our wins
But of course we always threw our money back in
In recovery we can now truly say
The harder we work it, the more that it pays
We don’t need luck to move forward in life
We don’t need luck to get past the strife
We don’t need gambling coz if we return to it
Then like a hen on our lap we’ll be covered in ****!
Good poem, same for all of us.
The gambling industry isn’t the problem – they didn’t steal our money, we chose to give it to them.
The banks we might have borrowed money from aren’t the problem – we asked them for that money, sometimes knowing we couldn’t afford to pay it back.
What others do/don’t do isn’t the problem – we are all responsible for our own actions.
We can’t relocate away from our problem – it goes with us.
We are Compulsive Gamblers – that’s the problem but not the excuse. We are still responsible for our own actions and can take the ones which will move us into recovery.
Happy Birthday Liberty 🙂
The important word here is Today – why would any of us wait?
Wow, that’s great P, ty
I love this poem, thanks Sad.
Maybe print it out and keep it in your purse. Very positive.
Great poem The End.
I am sure that as you progress in recovery you will be able to remove that final ? 🙂
I like your poem Vera. Whatever God’s plans are they don’t include you gambling. enjoy your Christmas.
